Initially, MS Flight Sim 2004 opened, but gave me a black screen, but it was visible momentarily when I alt/ctrl/del, during the transition between screens ( as often as I changed screens ). I finally got it working!!! Here's how:- I reinstalled the whole lot on my system drive ( may not have been necessary, so I suggest you skip this and move on; first ).

Click start, then 'all apps' and find Microsoft Games. Click it, in there you'll find Microsoft Flight Sim 2004, BUT I also found in the 'folder' 'Safe Mode' ( with the Microsoft Flight Sim 2004 icon alongside it ). Click on 'Safe Mode'. MS now opened, with the top and bottom menu bars visible; but it worked normally! I then shut down, restarted and opened MS FS 2004 using my usual short cut. It worked fine. HOWEVER, when I tried for 'full screen' mode, everything returned to 'black screen'!!! Remington Rifle Serial Numbers there.

So alt/ctrl/del and task manager to shut down MS FS, safe mode, leave well alone! So I now just accept a top / bottom menu bar; but so far everything I need to work, does.
