I have a WS SR and love it. Codec 0x2000 Dolby Ac3 Ac3200. Maybe nostaligia! I have a maunual too!

But gone are the days that i had masses of time/patience to read and understand these things - it one INDEPTH manual! I tried to be clever and program it from the front panel using my intuition. But ended up completely confused! Searched for a free editor, shareware, freeware. I have an extremely old version of sounddiver. But i cannot get it to work at all - on the odd occasion that it did work, notes would hang and it'd crash very often. I dont mind paying for a dedicated Wavestation Editor - if one exists.

Anyone had any joy with one?? Starting to wonder if i can justify having it when it's so rarely used because of the difficulty in programming?!?! The reason i bought it was not for it's ability to replicate real instruments but for it's wave sequencing.

Ironically it's the wavesequencing which i can't quite grasp = meaning i cant grasp at all!! I've searched for Youtube tutorials too!

Programming wave sequences on the Keyboard version is easy, not so on the SR due to the single line display. As for editors there are quite a few paid ones, not many free. I like the profile in Sounddiver see here - pretty old though, so maybe Google it It's basically like a tracker style sequencer for waveforms and pitches, with audio crossfades. Each step can have a different waveform and pitchThanks CoolcolJ.

I had a mess with it tonight thinking that i was going to sell it due to not understanding its architecture. It's mainly full of factory presets from a time where PCM emulations of real sounds was a big deal - but i have to be honest and say that the presets dont inspire me much at all. I exchanged a few instruments for various waveforms within a patch and soon realised it's potential. (this is the extend of my editing abilities - basic waveform subsitution, adsr, transpose etc.

Wave sequencing is still a mystery to me! I wasnt sure which editor you were directing me to. Was it sounddiver?

There are several on that link. In the past Sounddiver used to crash and hang on me. Maybe i was using it incorrectly? They shoved a lot of presets on the SR due to limited screen, they figured editing won't be easy I used to own the original keyboard version from new, and it only had 2 ram banks and 1 rom.

Hardly any emulations of real sounds here. They did add more of that stuff in the later revision and rack versions. Most of the waveforms are single cycle things, so you can tell it wasn't aimed at typical Rompler duties I wasn't pointing to a specific editor, just here are a few. Sounddiver works fine for me on Windows 7 64 bit, in XP compatibility mode You just have to dig around, don't expect everything to be spoon fed to you Each WS patch is quite complex and multi-layered. You sort have a Combi, then a bunch of patches inside this combi, then each patch can have 4 waves, or 4 wave sequences etc. They shoved a lot of presets on the SR due to limited screen, they figured editing won't be easy The used to own the original keyboard version from new, and it only had 2 ram banks and 1 rom.
